This project involves the cleaning and sanitizing of all existing ductwork and associated mechanical equipment at the VAMC in Altoona, Pennsylvania in Buildings 1, 2, 6, 7, 11, 15, 20, and 32 per NADCA Standards. All buildings will be field surveyed to confirm existing conditions and prepare accurate construction documents. The following cleaning and sanitizing methodology will be specified to ensure that systems are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized: A. Duct Cleaning: Cleaning shall be accomplished by mechanical means in conjunction with the use of High CFM HEPA style vacuums filtered canister vacuums. Mechanical means may include vacuum brushing of the duct interior, auger style mechanical devices, or high-pressure air-activated in duct cleaning devices to scrape off any dirt adhered to duct walls. Cleaning may be accomplished by a combination of these methods. All material in the vacuum shall be disposed of days after being treated with a sanitizer.
